HBM Supply Race: SK hynix, Samsung and Micron from HBM3E to HBM4E

The race began with SK hynix and Micron moving HBM3E into volume production in 2024, while Samsung sampled a 12-layer HBM3E but later positioned its HBM4 launch as its return to Nvidia’s supply chain. JEDEC published the HBM4 standard in April 2025, but Nvidia’s later Rubin specification change pushed the expected industry ramp into early 2026.
