TSMC Arizona: From a $12 Billion Fab to a $265 Billion Gigafab Cluster
TSMC announced one Arizona 5nm fab in May 2020, with US$12 billion in planned spending and production targeted for 2024. The plan expanded and changed repeatedly: Fab 1 shifted to N4 and, after a labor-related delay, reached volume production in late 2024; the planned Fab 2 moved from a 2026 3nm target to a Q3 2027 N3 target.
