OpenAI said it would design its own accelerators and systems, with Broadcom developing and deploying racks connected over Ethernet, starting in the second half of 2026 and completing by end-2029. The 10 GW figure put OpenAI's custom chip program on the same scale as its Nvidia and AMD agreements announced in the preceding weeks.

AMD and OpenAI announced a multi-year agreement under which OpenAI will deploy 6 gigawatts of AMD Instinct GPUs across generations, starting with 1 gigawatt of MI450 GPUs in the second half of 2026. AMD issued OpenAI a warrant for up to 160 million shares at US$0.01 that vests with deployment milestones and AMD share-price targets.

The largest investment Nvidia had ever proposed: a non-binding agreement to put up to $100 billion into OpenAI progressively as each gigawatt of Nvidia systems is deployed, starting with the first gigawatt on Vera Rubin in the second half of 2026. Critics called it circular financing; the definitive terms were still being negotiated months later.

OpenAI released GPT-5, a unified system combining a fast model, a deeper GPT-5 thinking model and a real-time router that decides which to use. It became the default for all ChatGPT users, with Pro subscribers getting GPT-5 pro with extended reasoning.

At its first developer conference OpenAI previewed GPT-4 Turbo, a more capable and cheaper GPT-4 with a 128K context window, alongside the Assistants API and platform vision, image-generation and text-to-speech features. The post also noted GPT-4 had become generally available to all developers in July 2023.
